Happy Birthday Leland!

Yesterday was my friend, Lonnie's birthday. He was, I hate to say, 59. It sounds quite trite by this time: how did we end up so old? Now he enters the last year of his 50's. When we started our 50's we were "middle aged." Now what? We all know now what.

We had dinner at Lonnie's Manhattan apartment with his family. Lovely. Monique made a shrimp pasta and we caught up on old times. We haven't been to Waterside in a few years so it felt like old times.

Lonnie and Kirsten at Lonnie's 59th.

There seemed to be a consensus of opinion about political matters. Both daughters were emphatic in opposing the war. Animated conversation around the dinner table helped round out a nice night of celebration.

Robert and Anja.

Chester and friend.

Stacey and a squirmy-puss.

Make a wish, Lonnie!
