My good friend, Henry Foner, sent me a verse (only the first so far, says he) after reading my Got The Movin' Blues Blog of yesterday. I thought I would share it with the world. Here 'tis:
Movin' Blues
I've got those "life-was-always-in-my-reach,
Living-in-Manhattan-Beach blues."
I've got those "shedding-all-these-bitter-tears
Shredding-all-those-bitter-years blues."
And ev'ry time the moving man knocks,
I've got to give him another box --
I've got those now-that-Sol-Gorelick's*-gone,
Who'm-I-gonna-lean-upon blues.
* Sol Gorelick was a labor and community activist and friend, who passed away recently.
